I yelled at him, tears of frustration pouring down my face. He ignored my request and then attempted to have me agree to the 48 hour wait.

They had to receive the money, put it through their system, and then return it to me. He said that it was not possible to cancel them. I informed him that the charges were still pending, so it was possible to just cancel them. He said that there was nothing he could do. I said that I needed it today because I have bills coming out. He said that I could have the money in 48 hours. I called back and talked to another representative. She said, "Just wait, please," and then proceeded to put me on hold. Finally, I told her that I'd been on the phone for 51 minutes, and that I should have been put through to a manager a long time ago. I started to cry with frustration after she, yet again, told me to call this other number. I am a young, stay-at-home mom! My husband and I have a mountain of tuition debt! $111.15 is a LOT of money to us! What are we supposed to do, skip groceries for 10 days?! I told her that it wasn't acceptable. She said that I could have my money back in 5-10 business days. I told her that it wasn't my bank's fault, and that Virgin should drop the charges. She then said that I should go to my bank and have them drop the charges. While I was on hold, I received another charge for $36.69! I informed her of it, and she put me on hold again. She said, "Ok, ma'am.", and once again put me on hold. What on earth?! I COULDN'T CALL ANYONE EXCEPT FOR CARE. She said, "Ok, ma'am, kindly take this number." This time I yelled at her. I informed that I could not call anyone except Care, because my bill wasn't paid. Neither called again.Įdit1: I was told to contact this agency for complaints: Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS)Įdit2: And if you find Virgin and their collections agency friends fucked up your credit rating you can contact the relevant consumer reporting agency with proof of their fuck up to get it fixed.Įdit3: I asked the Ministry of Consumer Services (Consumer Protection for Ontario) if Virgin had an obligation to make a reasonable attempt to collect a debt (they had my cell #, home # & address yet made no attempt) before using a collections agency and got the response from Edit 1 & 2, which I took as No.She then instructed me to call financial services. I paid Virgin directly and told the collections guy I paid Virgin directly. They guys who called you were probably a collections agency, not Virgin themselves. It's cheaper for them to sell the debt to collections agencies. They never send out bills or make reasonable attempts to collect. Turned out the data plan was a contract and canceling it early incurred roughly a $300 fee. I didn't have two different amounts but I closed my account with them and didn't expect to get charged anything even after inquiring. PS sorry for the rant/wall of text, its just. What are the odds that this resolves in my favor and what action should I take going forward? So just now I sent them a letter explaining that I have proof of payment and the bill from virgin showing the lower amount. Then today we received a letter from Commercial Credit Adjusters saying we owed them 150 odd dollars. So my wife phones billing to ask what the balance of the acct was, and they said it was the lower amount, so we assumed they just messed up somewhere. 3 days later another letter arrives from virgin asking for 150ish bucks and they wanted it the next day (literally). It arrives about 10 days later, quoting a balance of 90ish dollars, which we pay via online banking right away. So after another 20 minute call I get them to send it to our address. It seems they told the system to send the bill AND THEN changed the address, so it didn't get sent to our address. Apparently they didn't send it to the proper address, so we fixed it and they sent it out. We told them we had not received the bill, and asked them to send a bill, which meant we had to sit on hold for 20 min to talk to BILLING (for some reason Billing and Collections reside in opposite parts of the country.) So 1 month passes, and no bill, and we start getting the calls again. Anyway, about 2 months later we started to receive collections calls from them (Virgin Mobile) telling us we owed them 90 odd dollars. Hi guys, About 4 months ago, wife and I decided to exit our current cell phone contract, b/c I got a nice new job which paid significantly more.
